As part of our ongoing mission to drive circular economy practices in the mobility and energy sectors, Equalithium was honoured to meet with Dr. Ali Murtopo Simbolon Deputy Minister of Commerce and Digital Economy Economic Affairs of Indonesia in a high-level engagement held in Jakarta.

The meeting was initiated at the request of the Deputy Minister, following our participation in the recent EU-ASEAN Business Council Delegation to Indonesia, where Equalithium had the opportunity to share insights into sustainable battery recovery and refining practices.

As ASEAN economies rapidly adopt electrification across transport and industry, the challenge of managing end-of-life (EOL) lithium batteries and production scraps from battery OEMs has become increasingly urgent. Improper disposal poses serious environmental and regulatory risks, underscoring the need for immediate, robust governance frameworks and sustainable recovery channels.

In our meeting, we presented a comprehensive overview of our Mobility Battery Recovery Solutions, which are designed to offer a safe, environmentally responsible, and scalable approach to recycling and refining spent batteries. By recovering valuable rare materials and reintegrating them into the supply chain, our solutions help reduce dependency on natural reserves and mitigate environmental impact.

This engagement reinforces our commitment to working alongside governments and industry stakeholders in the region to support the development of responsible recycling infrastructure and to promote long-term sustainability in the battery value chain.

We thank the Deputy Minister and his team for the meaningful exchange and look forward to deepening our collaboration with Indonesian partners as the region advances its electrification journey.
